Recovery Assurance

Turn Assumed Recoverability into Evidence

010 Recovery Assurance helps organizations validate whether protection and recovery controls translate into practical recoverability, then turns the findings into evidence leadership can understand.

What Recovery Assurance connects

Recovery Assurance Connects Protection to Evidence

Recovery Assurance is not another tool. It is the discipline that links what is deployed to what can actually be recovered.

Business criticality

Agree which services matter most and how quickly they need to return.

Technical protection

Confirm that security, backup and archive capabilities cover what matters.

Recovery design

Define the recovery sequence, dependencies, runbooks and responsibilities.

Validation

Test recovery in ways that suit the organization’s objectives and risk.

Evidence and reporting

Record results, exceptions and remaining uncertainty in plain language.

Governance and improvement

Feed findings back into priorities, ownership and the next review.

Four capabilities, one assurance discipline

The Capabilities Recovery Assurance Connects

Business priorities and continuity decide what each capability must protect. Each capability creates recovery potential. Recovery Assurance checks how they work together, and governance keeps them current.

What evidence should show

What Does the Evidence Actually Show?

Good recovery evidence answers a short list of questions that leadership, auditors, insurers and partners all ask in one form or another.

If the answers are unclear, that is a finding in itself, and a useful place to start.

  1. What matters most?

The services and data the organization needs back first.

  2. What is protected?

Which capabilities cover those services today.

  3. What is recoverable?

What has been tested, and what was observed.

  4. What remains uncertain?

Untested assumptions, exceptions and known gaps.

  5. What happens next?

Agreed priorities, owners and the next review.

The lifecycle

Discover · Protect · Validate · Evidence · Improve

One cycle, repeated as the environment changes. See how each stage works →

1

Discover

Identify critical services, what they depend on and how fast they must return.

2

Protect

Align backup, retention, security and recovery design with what the business needs.

3

Validate

Test recovery in a controlled way and measure the results.

4

Evidence

Record what was tested, what happened and what remains uncertain.

5

Improve

Fix the gaps that matter most, then test again as things change.

Ways to engage

Three Ways to Work with 010

Start wherever you are. Some organizations want to understand their exposure first. Others come to us with a migration or a recovery project already in hand. Discovery and validation are built into each.

“Help me understand my exposure.”

Assess and plan

  • Recovery Assurance Assessment
  • Business impact analysis
  • Business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Recovery architecture

Operate and govern

  • Managed protection
  • Scheduled recovery validation

Emergency Recovery

If ransomware, a major outage or data loss has already stopped your operations, contact us to discuss recovery assistance. We will confirm availability and next steps. We help contain the incident, find out what can be recovered, restore the services that matter most in the right order, and record what was done for leadership and your insurer. You don’t need to be a 010 client. Once you are back up and running, what we learned becomes the starting point for Recovery Assurance.

Operate and govern

Ongoing Recovery Assurance

Systems, people and providers keep changing, so recovery has to be checked again and again. After an assessment or a project, Ongoing Recovery Assurance keeps your recovery tested and reported. Scope and frequency are agreed for each engagement.

Agreed review cadence

Regular reviews on a schedule set with you.

Recovery plan upkeep

Plans and runbooks kept in step with your environment.

Scheduled exercises

Recovery tested at agreed intervals, with the right method for each service.

Exception tracking

Every gap logged, given an owner and followed to closure.

Review after major changes

Migrations, new systems and new providers trigger a fresh look.

Executive reporting

Plain-language results for leadership, auditors and insurers.

How this differs from Managed Backup: Managed Backup keeps protected copies of your data. Ongoing Recovery Assurance checks, on an agreed schedule, that your critical services can actually be recovered, and reports what it finds.

Questions

Recovery Assurance FAQ

What is Recovery Assurance?

It is the practice of validating whether an organization can recover what matters, and recording the evidence in a form leadership can use. It connects security operations, backup, disaster recovery and archive to agreed recovery outcomes.

How is it different from cybersecurity?

Cybersecurity focuses on preventing and detecting incidents. Recovery Assurance focuses on what happens next: whether critical operations can be restored, in what order, and how well that has been tested.

Why isn’t a successful backup proof of recovery?

A completed backup job shows that data was copied. It does not show that systems can be restored in the right sequence, with the right access, within the time the business needs.

How often is recovery revalidated?

It depends on how quickly the environment changes and how critical the services are. Many organizations review after major changes and on a regular schedule agreed with leadership.

How do we start?

Most organizations begin with a Recovery Assurance Assessment. It shows where you stand today and what to improve first.
